What
made you want to act?
I grew up in New York
and used to play dress up when I was a kid. I would put on plays for my friends, imitate TV and
generally I just enjoyed performing. My grandma took me to plays such as by the great Russian playwright
Anton Chekhov and I loved them.
Is
it weird being at school?
It was my freshman
year, but now I’m used to it and it’s much more manageable. Partly because it’s old news now and
a lot of people don’t care. It is nice when people complement my work. Generally though, I don’t
speak as much in large classes.
What
made you want to go to college?
I always wanted the
college experience. I took a year off after high school and was working but decided to go back to
improve myself. There are not enough good movies made, and I wanted to go back and learn so that
I might be able to help. I also think that my work is better with a break and I do get free time
between projects.
I lived in the dorms my freshman and sophomore years. Now I’m in my last year and I’m a bit anxious
to graduate this upcoming May. What
type of computer do you use?
I’ve converted to a Mac. Tell
us about your new movie, Mona Lisa Smile?
It’s a great movie
with a great cast including Julia Roberts, and Kirsten Dunst and Maggie Gyllenhall. It was great
to be around Julia Roberts and learn from her experience and I had a lot of fun with Kirsten.
Who
is your favorite actress?
Meryl Streep. I met
her at an Equality Now function. She just floors me when I see her on screen. I also like that she
is funny, quirky, and free spirited in person.
Who
is your favorite actor?
Kevin Kline, although
I haven’t met him.
